Getting Here

To reach Encanto, fly into San José, Costa Rica. In San José, connect to the one-hour flight south to Golfito. From Golfito, Encanto an hour drive south. There are many direct flights from hubs in the United States to San José:

Most European airlines offer service to San José through a Miami connection on American Airlines. MartinAir has direct flights from Amsterdam, and Iberia Airlines has direct flights from Madrid.

From South America, Taca Airlines has direct flights from Caracas, Lima, Bogota and Guayaquil.

When you arrive in San José, you will take the connecting flight to Golfito, to Costa Rica's southern Pacific coast.

Sansa Airlines and Nature Air both fly from San José to Golfito. Sansa's terminal is adjacent to San José's major international airport, Juan Santamarha, and is best for intra-day connections. Nature Air's terminal is in Pavas, a suburb closer to downtown San José, about 40 minutes by taxi to Juan Santamarha.

If you are enjoying an overnight stay in San José, we highly recommend the Hotel Grano De Oro (www.hotelgranodeoro.com). The airstrip at Golfito can accommodate private planes and small jets. Private charter service is available through Air Charter Central America (www.airchartercentralamerica.com). Once in Golfito, a public airport taxi (red SUVs) can bring you to Encanto. Solid Car Rental in Golfito offers 4x4s close to the Golfito airport. If you drive from San José, restrict your driving to daylight hours, as roads are not well marked.
